Montevideo has a rich history and many cultural activities to keep you occupied during your time at our language school. Our school does not directly organize activities and excursions. However, our staff is available to help you plan your trips and excursions in and around Montevideo.

Guided Tours

Montevideo has many historical and cultural sites for tourists to visit. Many of these sites offer free-guided tours. You can visit the Palacio Legislativo, the Botanical Gardens and the Museo Blanes without paying any extra fees and you will hear an expert explain their importance.

The city also has various bus tours that take you around Montevideo and the most significant areas. One recommended English bus tour is Real English Tours.

Windsurfing and Sailing

Our school in Montevideo is only a short bus ride away from a yacht club that sits on the Rio de Plata. This yacht club offers many different water sports, including windsurfing and sailing.

Tango

The language school is located within walking-distance to a cultural center where you can attend free tango lessons. There are various bars in Montevideo where you can have a drink and watch the beautiful national dance: tango. Some of these venues offer tango
lessons and most of them have live-musicians to create an authentic
Uruguayan atmosphere.

Outdoors Activities

You can take part in outdoor activities in the Uruguayan “campo”, or countryside. You can take a short bus ride (about an hour) to a ranch in the outskirts of Montevideo. Here you spend the day horseback riding or having a typical barbeque or “parrilla”.

There are also various vineyards located around Montevideo where you can take a guided tour around the vineyard and sample some of the best national wines.

If you want to get out of the city and enjoy the Uruguayan campo, then our school can assist you in organizing horseback riding classes. The campo is a bus ride away and very well connected to the main bus terminal in Montevideo.

Tennis

If you would like to attend tennis lessons our school can help you organize them at a tennis club just a short bus ride away from the city center. The school is known for its professional instructors and
nice facilities.

Excursions Outside of Montevideo

Montevideo has a great geographic location making excursions outside of the city easy and enjoyable. There are various tours that usually take place on the weekends to various places in Uruguay.

Some of the most popular destinations are: Punta del Este and Pirápolis, 4x4 tours of the Sierras Occidentales in Maldonado, or a guided trip to an abandoned gold mine. Each destination has a price per person that usually includes: transportation, entrances, and tour-guides. Some include a snack or a barbecue at the site. Prices range from US$40.00 to US$150.00 depending on the destination.
